Hi, I'm Gemmy Woud-Binnendijk, a Dutch professional fine art photographer. My creative path began with liquid pigments and a brush. The camera became my brush after I discovered that I could create the same mood and light that is so beautiful in Dutch 17th-century paintings. For me, each detail is lovingly obsessed over and refined- from the backdrops that I generally paint or make myself. My images become a depiction of real things not quite grounded in reality. I want to share my passion with you.
How the image Treasure Hunt was created
Sometimes it is not possible to use a model during a shoot. But you do want to be able to tell a story through images or at least want to create an image. In this case, Gemmy has hardly prepared herself. So she didn't make a storyboard, but just started from the idea of what she had in her head. The choice was made for a so-called still life. The advantage is that there is no need for a model, or a make-up artist, or a hair stylist, etc. What the result of this way of working is shows Gemmy with the following video.
